The Slight Intoxication Your Eyes Offer.

Inspired by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s “Yeh Jo Halka Halka Suroor hai”

The slight intoxication your eyes offer

Taught me to drink wine.

It”s because of your love. It’s because of your desire and your psychedelic eyes that I lost myself.

A chorus of purple surrounds us.

What is this Wine? What is this High?

It’s because of your sweetness,

You made me drink so much

That I can’t remember who the self is?

The whole world Dances, The Ocean Dances, The Glass Dances,

The Cup Dances, The Wind Dances, The Alcohol Dances.

The Night Dances, The Morning Dances, and so does the Twilight.

There are so many wines to serve in the cosmos

But all I want are the small doses of your eyes.

I understand your heavenly body

My pupils expand with your every movement.

My life is fulfilled by your love.

All my life is love for you.

I don’t know how to pray, I wasn’t baptized, I kneel only when you’re infront of me.

My life is the memory of you,

That is the miracle of my blasphemy

That my sins evaporated when I knelt to your statue.

Who will you torture after me?

I left a dagger in front of you.

And my liver, And my heart, And my head.

And asked: “How will you erase someone so devoted?”

And you were indifferent

And yet my love is infinite.

Please pray for me.

I became a murderer after witnessing you.

And I blame the slight intoxication your eyes offer.
