Reflecting on the Past Year

What can I say about 2019? It was the year of unexpected surprises, kindness, and personal tragedy.

I will remember this year because it changed the way I think. Earlier this year, I survived a house fire. It was a traumatic experience because I thought I had lost everything. Of course, it was a relief that no one got hurt and when the smoke cleared I was able to recover some of my things.

If this year has taught me anything is that everything is temporary. There are no guarantees– nothing is for certain. And that’s okay — but it also means that we have to follow our dreams right now. There is no tomorrow, there is no next week; the only thing real is the now.

I’m embracing the present in the new year. The now. The present. The only thing that matters. I know its cliché but it’s the truth.

I’m looking forward to 2020 because it’s the year that I’ll live in the now and be more spontaneous. And finally finish that novel I’ve been working on for the last three years, ha-ha. Anyway, I wanted to wish all of you a happy new year and the ability to accomplish your dreams, now!
